You will need:
- 125 g butter (real butter NOT margarine)
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup caster or regular white sugar
- 1 1/2 cups self raising flour
- 3 medium to large Granny Smith Apples
- 1/2 tsp good cinnamon powder
- 60 g sultanas or similar dried fruit
- some extra sugar for top.
- Preheat oven to 170C
- Melt butter
- Add egg, sugar and flour to the butter
- Combine mixture to a stiff dough with knife (or wooden spoon)
- Divide into 2 and set aside
- Peel, quarter and remove core from apples
- Slice apple into thin slices
- Spray cake pan with oil and line with paper
- Take 1/2 of mixture and press down into cake pan
- Layer some apple slices on top of this layer, then add sultanas and cinnamon, continuing on with apples
- Take other 1/2 of mix and crumble lightly between your hands and sprinkle over the apple layers.
- Sprinkle sugar over the crumble
- Bake @ 170C for about 45 minutes, depending on fan forced
- Remove when cooked and lightly browned on top
- Turn out of tin when cool
- Enjoy hot with whipped cream, custard or icecream for dessert
- Enjoy cold with a cuppa.
